LARA LUZIM

DIRECTOR OF DANCE; CHOREOGRAPHER ; Artistic director create space dance company

Lara Luzim received her B.F.A in dance from N.Y.U Tisch School of the Arts. In addition , her education includes time with Alivin Ailey, Gus Giordano Dance Chicago, American Dance Festival and Jacobs Pillow.

She believes diversity is key and her experience as an award winning choreographer and educator spans more than 25 years. As a teacher and performing artist in New York for over 20 years, Lara had the privilege to work for people such as Mia Michaels, Sheila Barker and Slam.

She was on faculty at Broadway Dance Center as well as many other studios within the tri-state. Lara also produced work throughout NYC including Summerstage NYC, Cunningham Dance and on tour with her company Lara Luzim Dance throughout the United States.

Her love and passion for teaching ,coaching and choreography has enabled many of her students all over the country to go on to prestigious high school and college programs as well as Broadway and beyond. She has been recognized and awarded many accolades for both her concert based work as well as her competitive choreography.

She is currently on faculty with GROOVE/Reverb dance competition and conventions and continues to inspire many across the country with her top tier teaching and training style rooted in the commitment to encourage dancers to be authentic and relentless in their pursuit of their highest potential.

She is proud to be a part of BARCLAY Performing Arts this year as Director of Dance & Artistic Director of Create Space Dance Company. She is humbled to show students of all ages and abilities the true joy of movement, dance and entertainment. Lara believes dance is healing, dance is empowering… dance is for everyone. She is fortunate to do what she loves and play a small part in each student’s journey in life.

Lara is also a 200 hr YRT certified yoga instructor for both group classes and 1:1 private sessions .
