LARA LUZIM

Director of Dance

LARA LUZIM (Director of Dance) is a South Florida native. She is a graduate of Dillard School of the Arts in Ft. Lauderdale, FL. and holds a B.F.A. in Dance and Education from N.Y.U. Tisch School of the Arts. Additionally, she has had the privilege to continue her education and training at Alvin Ailey, Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago, Jacob’s Pillow, American Dance Festival, and Broadway Dance Center Professional Semester, and has just completed her 200-hour yoga certification at Yoga Aura in Boca Raton, FL. Lara has a passion and love for teaching and choreography. She was on faculty at NYC’s Broadway Dance Center Children and Teen Program as well as subbed classes for Slam and other faculty at BDC. Lara had the incredible opportunity to teach in the tri-state area for studios including Breaking Ground Dance Center, InMotion Dance Center NY, Horizons, and Divine Rhythms. In addition, she ran the Physical Education and Dance program at St. Pius HS. She has trained and helped students achieve top honors competitively as well as college-track students looking to further their dance education. She cultivated a 20-year career in New York before returning to South Florida. She has worked and trained with talents such as Sheila Barker, Mia Michaels, Derek Mitchell, Sheryl Murakami, Doug Varone, Chio, and Milton Myers, just to name a few. Her work has been featured at JCE Jazz Choreography Enterprises, PMT Performance Showcase, Disha Theater Company, Summerstage in Central Park, Dumbo Dance Festival, WaxWorks, DNA Showcase, Chris Palacio Performance Project and Broadway Dance Center Professional Semester Showcase, The Bridge for dance and “Cut Loose”at Merce Cunningham Studios in NYC. In addition, Lara served as choreographer for “The Telling” presented by Give her a Voice, Inc. a 501c3 non-profit that helps raise money for children and women in need. She also loves coaching and creating work for competitive dancers and teams.

Lara has judged and taught for competition/conventions such as NYLA, Beyond the Stars and All American Talent. With over 30 years of experience teaching, Lara currently judges for Groove/Reverb dance competitions and teaches all ages and levels of yoga at Yoga Six in Coconut Creek and West Boca. Lara is thrilled to join the BARCLAY team and bring the dance program to new heights starting in 2023!
